  Gerald Caliendo

Gerald Caliendo, countertenor, has been a soloist at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church since 1988. He sang countertenor in such works as Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and choruses of The Lark, Handel’s Exultate Jubilate, and Charpentier’s Te Deum. Other highlights include solo appearances with Houston Ballet, Houston Masterworks Chorus, Kingwood Chorale, and fifteen years as a member of the Houston Grand Opera Chorus. A former student of Elena Nikolaidi, he was a finalist in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. In 1994 he was chosen by Saturn Motor Company to appear in a nationwide TV commercial in which he performed the aria “Vesti la giubba” from Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci in full costume while driving on a downtown Houston freeway. Gerald has sung with the Houston Chamber Choir since 2006.
