Brenda Coker
Alto

Brenda Coker, alto, is a graduate of Baylor University. She is a member of the Texas Choral Directors Association and the Texas Music Educators Association and has a lasting love of music education and choral singing. Brenda has sung the alto solos for Mendelssohn’s Conversion of St. Paul, Handel’s Messiah, and Honegger’s King David. Some of her favorite roles include Queen Jezebel (Mendelssohn’s Elijah), Dolly (Hello, Dolly), Ruth (Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance), and Adelaide (Guys and Dolls). She is active as a singer, accompanist, and director at her church. Still, her favorite roles are being mom to three grown children, singing with her six grandchildren, and partnering with husband, Thomas, to sing a cappella duets. Brenda has sung with the Houston Chamber Choir since the fall of 2000.
