Michael Walsh, baritone, received his Master of Music degree from Rice University. The recipient of Rice’s Carlton Prize in Opera, Mr. Walsh has been in the young artist programs for Central City Opera, Amarillo Opera, and Utah Opera. Michael has performed in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Faust, and Manon Lescaut with Opera in the Heights. For Houston Grand Opera’s Opera to Go!, he created the title role in The Velveteen Rabbit and also sang in The Barber of Seville, Strega Nona, and The Daughter of the Regiment. He has sung with Ars Lyrica and also in Mercury Baroque’s productions of Pygmalion and Dido and Aeneas. He created the role of Jason for the premiere of James Norman’s wake…, and appeared in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti with Opera Vista. He most recently sang at Rothko Chapel as the baritone soloist for Divergence Vocal Theater. He is currently on the voice faculty of Sam Houston State University and Lonestar College, Montgomery. Michael has sung with the Houston Chamber Choir since 2007.
