Brenda Coker has a
lifelong love of music and choral singing. She has sung the alto
solos for Mendelssohn’s Conversion of St. Paul, Handel’s
Messiah, and Honegger’s King David. Some
of her favorite roles include Queen Jezebel (Mendelssohn’s
Elijah), Dolly (Hello, Dolly), Ruth (Pirates
of Penzance), and Adelaide (Guys and Dolls). Still,
her favorite roles are being mom to three grown children, singing
to her three granddaughters, and partnering with her husband, Thomas,
to sing a cappella duets. This is Brenda’s seventh season
with the Houston Chamber Choir.
