Marianna Parnas-Simpson graduated with a Masters degree in Choral Conducting from the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Russia. She founded the award winning St. Petersburg Girls Choir, Kamerton, which she directed for ten years before coming to the United States. Since 1999 she has taught at Parker Elementary School, a Houston ISD magnet school for music. In March 2007 her choir will appear at the national convention of the American Choral Director’s Association in Miami, the second elementary school choir to receive this honor in the ACDA’s 47-year history. She also directs the Children’s Chorus for Revels Houston and the Cathedral Treble Choir at Christ Church Cathedral. Marianna is a founding member of the Houston Chamber Choir.
