ROBERT SIMPSON
Robert Simpson is Founder and Artistic Director of
the Houston Chamber Choir, Houston’s professional concert choir.
He also serves as Organist-Choirmaster at Houston’s historic Christ
Church Cathedral (Episcopal) and on the faculty of the Shepherd School
of Music at Rice University. He has held teaching posts as Adjunct Professor
of Organ at Georgia State University and Senior Teaching Fellow in Choral
Music at the University of Texas, Austin. Following graduation with honors
from Brown University and the School of Sacred Music, Union Theological
Seminary, he studied for two years at the Hochschule für Musik in
Cologne, Germany. He continued his studies with Eric Ericson and Gustaf
Sjökvist in Stockholm, Sweden. Mr. Simpson has led his choirs in
concert in Europe and Mexico and, at national and regional conventions
of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, and the
American Guild of Organists. They have also been heard on CBS and ABC
Television, and American Public Radio.
