Biography

Born in the U.K., St. John graduated from the University of Liverpool with a B.A. in French. After working in France for two years he came to the U.S. where he earned an M.A. in French from the University of Georgia, and taught in the Comparative Literature department while working on his Ph.D. (which he never completed).

He worked for top public TV and radio stations for more than twenty-five years including as cultural affairs producer for Georgia Public Broadcasting; as classical music director for KUHF and Classical 91.7FM in Houston; and as Arts & Culture Director for Houston Public Media where he hosted the radio arts show The Front Row, the Opera Cheat Sheet podcast, the Houston Symphony weekly radio broadcasts, and TV arts programs including the Houston Symphony Season Announcements. He was also a cast member of Manor of Speaking, the Emmy award-winning syndicated Downton Abbey after-show.

He has appeared on stage as host or narrator with many performing arts organizations including the Houston Symphony and the Texas Music Festival Orchestra. Check out his blog, A Life With Culture, at www.stjohnflynn.com.
