gabriel chona Rueda

Colombian-Canadian tenor Gabriel Chona Rueda is an emerging artist recognized for his work in both opera and concert repertoire. Most recently, he was engaged as a Studio Artist with the Chautauqua Opera Company for its 2026 season. A graduate of the University of Houston's Moores School of Music, Gabriel has performed leading roles with the Moores Opera Company, including Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and the Stranger in Carlisle Floyd's Markheim. Equally passionate about choral singing, he was featured as the tenor soloist in Mozart's Requiem during the Houston Chamber Choir's 2025–2026 season. Gabriel is dedicated to both operatic and choral repertoire and is honored to return to the Houston Chamber Choir for another exciting season of music-making.
