DIRECTOR of operations

Dr. Lisa Borik Vickers is an accomplished soprano, educator, and arts administrator. Having sung with the Houston Chamber Choir for several seasons, she is excited to join the organization as Director of Operations. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, and her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Butler University.

An active performer, Dr. Vickers has appeared with Houston Grand Opera, Opera in the Heights, Theatre Under the Stars, Lone Star Lyric, Hopera, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston, Aperio, Loop38, Houston Masterworks Chorus, Houston Chamber Choir, and the Houston Symphony Chorus. Recent highlights include Il trittico, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Light in the Piazza, and Stephen Schwartz’s Séance on a Wet Afternoon, for which PaperCity praised the “deftness of Vickers’ artistry” as “breathtaking to experience.” She has also appeared as soprano soloist in Carmina Burana, Mahler’s Second Symphony, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, including a debut at Carnegie Hall. She is a member of the acclaimed Houston Grand Opera Chorus. 

Dr. Vickers has served on the voice faculties of Texas Southern University, the University of Houston, Lone Star College-Montgomery, Houston Community College, and several area high schools. She currently directs Houston Grand Opera’s Bauer Family High School Voice Studio. In addition to her work in the performing arts, she brings extensive operational and administrative experience from the wellness industry, having managed multiple yoga studios in Houston. A certified 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, she regularly teaches yoga and presents workshops for singers and musicians.

Outside of work, Dr. Vickers enjoys traveling, being on the water with her husband and two daughters, visiting museums, Tex-Mex, and live music of all kinds.
